Besides a simple birthday dinner with my family, I normally don't celebrate my birthday with huge parties and friends or go out. But this year, all of my planned events just so happened to fall on my birthday week. Funny how things turn out when you least expect it!
We Day Conference
This past Wednesday, February 25th, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the annual We Day Conference held by Me to We. We Day is a youth conference that focuses on empoWErment; it is open to all students and encourages service action on a local and global scale. I found this experience riveting, and the speakers were so moving.
The line-up included Kid President, Ezra French, Spencer West, and Ashley Murphy, to name a few. We also enjoyed performances by Cher Lloyd, Colbie Caillat, and G.R.L. I was especially stoked to see Cody frickin' Simpson singing his new songs!

NBC Bay Area Tour & Screening
The next day, Thursday, February 26th, I and four other students attended a tour of NBC in Downtown San Jose!
A few weeks ago, my Journalism teacher announced that she had been gifted a tour of NBC and could bring 5 students. To apply, students had to write a letter, explaining why would should be selected to go on the field trip, which she would then give to her friend to select from.
It was really fascinating to see broadcasting behind the scenes and learn about the effort it takes into running the station. (Did you know that some reporters have only 5 minutes to put together their pitches?!)
I am so grateful to have been one of the attendees because I can now cross "128. Attend a Movie Screening" off my Bucket List!
